SA-80110

Summary

Unable to access Share Drive URL from the Chrome browser. The same works in the Internet Explorer browser.

Error Messages

Console Error: Not able to load local resources

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Add a URL in the attachments.
  2. In the URL, provide any shared path (\\check1\\test\\file.xml).
  3. Click the URL. The file must open in a new browser tab.

Root Cause

A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment:
Latest browsers do not support opening local files due to security reasons.

Resolution

Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Files are accessible only from those paths which are considered secure by the browser (such as, HTTP and HTTPS). This is related to the Web Security policies of modern browsers. This is not related to Pega.
According to the browser, accessing a local file from a web application imposes a huge security threat. Files must be hosted in the application server or any secured path.
