Upgrade fails with java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException

SA-27791

Summary

Upgrade from PRPC 6.3 SP1 to Pega 7.2.1 fails on Generate Declarative Indexes step due to a timeout.

Error Messages

Error: Exception while processing response for the class Rule-Declare-DecisionTable:
[java] java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException

Steps to Reproduce

Run a single schema upgrade.

Root Cause

A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment:
Some tasks take longer than expected, thus the timeout is thrown. The upgrade does not fail due to timeouts. The upgrade is completed.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:
  1. Allow the upgrade to finish.
  2. Rerun the reindex task, which had timeouts, using prpcUtils or prpcServiceUtils command line tool with expose parameter.
  3. In the corresponding properties file for the tool, in addition to the database or system configuration properties, set the following expose specific properties:
  • expose.includedClasses=Rule-
  • expose.reindex=true
  • expose.reindexType=nonpega
