By Sam Alexander, Senior Product Manager, User Experience, and self-proclaimed Pega Developer Advocate, and Sreedhar Ganduri, Director of Product Management for UI technology. Sreedhar is passionate about bringing differentiating UI market core capabilities into the Pega platform.
If you’re a Pega application developer, you have probably heard about Cosmos React— the newest implementation of the Pega Cosmos design system — and how its guided workflows, built-in accessibility, and design best practices help your users work faster and your business to get better outcomes.
But did you know that Cosmos React also offers a different way of building— for professional and citizen developers alike? And this new way of building impacts you, your clients, and your customers.
On June 16, Pega’s Sam Alexander, senior product manager of User Experience, and Sreedhar Ganduri, director of product management for UI, will lead a hands-on, interactive LIVE learning session to teach you how to build with Cosmos React. We’ll work with a sample application in a real authoring environment. This Hands-on Training (HoT) is an instructor-led 2.5-hour session that offers hands-on time, plus access to all exercise systems to practice your skills after the session. This training lets you jumpstart your knowledge with cost-effective options relevant to your role.
The following five reasons outline why you should attend and what you’ll gain at the session.
1. Understand the difference between customizing and configuring an enterprise application
Traditionally, you built Pega applications by customizing sections and rules, which then render to the user via UI via a design system, such as UI-Kit or Theme Cosmos (the previous implementation of the Cosmos design system). Pega’s section-based technology is powerful and will continue to serve you for years to come. But Cosmos React offers a new architecture and a new way to build.
When you build with Cosmos React, you shift from heavily customizing the UI with low-level section rules and discrete UI controls to quickly configuring a desired business outcome that generates the end-to-end experience.
2. Build and work with views instead of sections
In Cosmos React, professional and citizen developers alike can use App Studio to quickly create and configure views, a new template-based construct for generating forms and other UI. Views are objects that represent the ideal combination of data in a predefined template, and have front-end and accessibility practices built in. By using views, citizen developers are more empowered to work with logic rather than elements on a screen. And professional developers will save time to work on more complex coding challenges.
3. Embed self-service workflows into your application
Cosmos React allows you to embed Pega workflows within an existing customer-facing application built with another technology. This lets you orchestrate another website from your Pega application. For example, you can embed a feedback form within your website so that the users who access the page can share their comments.
4. Get—and leverage—the insights from your application
Explore Data provides a convenient way to analyze and manage data in your application. For example, you can access the list of all assignments of your team, and then analyze their status to verify the remaining workload for the current release. You’ll learn how to access your application data, create insights from that data and use those insights throughout the application. You’ll also review data visualization capabilities to display your data in easily digestible ways to use on top-level landing pages or within case views.
5. Learn how “prescribed” UX opens doors for your business
Cosmos React is a prescribed front-end with an extensible architecture. We’ll cover in detail what this means and how a prescribed overall experience lets you, as the application author, focus on the core business logic and workflows and not worry about UX fundamentals. Prescribed UX will save you time and help your users navigate your product with less of a learning curve. We’ll show you how!
We can’t wait to see you at the training and look forward to learning about all the great things that you’ll build with Cosmos React. In the meantime, don’t forget to sign up and check out our resources to learn more.
