Is it possible to create temporary case in Constellation?
Hi,
I have a requirement to build a landing page that allows users to search for customers and create a case based on search results. For example, a customer may have multiple accounts such as Gold and Platinum. If user selects Gold from the search results and submits, a Gold case should be created. Similarly, if Platinum is selected and submitted, a Platinum case should be created.
Is it achievable in Constellation?
Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

@VinodBavandlahi, temporary cases are not available in Constellation (and in Theme Cosmos as well since some time already). Can you explain how lack of temporary cases blocks your use case?

@Kamil Janeczek If temporary case capability exists, we can create temporary case to determine which case needs to be created and close the temporary case without persisting it. The temporary case is not expected to have any case life cycle, it would be created just to search and determine which case need to be created based on search results.

@VinodBavandla What you can do is use the create stage in a case and ask the user to select the Customers from there. On submit the case will progress, on Cancel the case will be removed.

We have a common process that is relevant to multiple case types. Currently, triggering this process automatically initiates a specific case type, but users are not aware of which case type should be created, as the selection depends on data chosen within the common process. To avoid user confusion, we are exploring alternatives to separate this common process from existing case types.
One approach considered was creating a new case type dedicated to the common process, which would then initiate the appropriate case type based on the selected data. However, introducing a new case type solely for this purpose may not be ideal. Therefore, we are looking into other options within Constellation to achieve this more effectively.

@pavankumarp6690 I have been exploring the same for few months now. I have seen two possible solutions. Create a Triage case and resolve it once the actual case is created. Second option is to create the logic to search in a traditional ui app and add it as a built on application. Both options are very frustrating but I couldnt find any other solution.

@AravinthT Thank you. I arrived at the same conclusion. Waiting to see if there is a better solution. If not, will go with one of the options.

With the information given above, I would go for the separate case type. Reason is that I can control it a lot better, provide a dedicated pixel-perfect (SDK) portal for it and can set-up security on your customer group.
By splitting the external request flows and the internal handling of the requests, you don't need to mask sensitive case-data as you just disallow on class-level altogether.
